4 Ways To Keep Car Sickness Away

If you feel sick in the car, you are suffering from motion sickness. When riding in a car, you experience dizziness, nausea, fatigue, and cold sweats. This condition affects your road trip negatively.

The good news is, it is possible to prevent being sick in the car and eventually enjoy the ride. Here are some tips to follow:

Fix Your Eyes on the Horizon

Position your head forward and focus out the windshield. Choose a particular spot on the horizon, such as a tree or mountain. Try to hold your sight on that point and do not get distracted.

Make sure you do not cut your gaze by looking at another direction. If you are driving, do not forget to pay attention to the road ahead.

If you find it hard to hold your gaze in just a single point for a long time, try to stabilize your head. You can either use a neck pillow or rest your head on the headrest.

Take Breaks

During long road trips, do not hesitate to stop and take breaks here and there. It is a good time to stretch your legs while sitting under a tree or on a bench that you pass by.

Frequent stopping is a good way to relieve car sickness. During these breaks, take deep breaths to help you relax. You can continue your trip as soon as your nausea and dizziness are gone.

If you are not the driver, you can try to sleep away your car sickness. Considering that your eyes are closed, your body will not receive signals from your vision. So, use sleeping to avoid car sickness and survive a long trip on the road.

While taking a nap, listen to some music or audio books to help you focus on something else instead of your nausea and dizziness.

Do Not Read Books or Use Your Phone

It is not a good idea to put your attention on an object inside the car in order to prevent your motion sickness. Therefore, if you play a game on your mobile phone, or read a book, tablet or Kindle, it can only worsen your nausea or dizziness.

It is possible to prevent your car sickness by following the tips above. You can now drive or ride your car for long trips.
